The GREAT I AM
Heavenly Father, the Great I AM.
I know You are watching little me.
My life is as vapor, drifting away.
(But) You lift me upward, heavenly.
Blessed Redeemer, the Great I AM.
I know You hear my constant prayer.
Example to others, in all that I say.
(But) You are with me, everywhere.
Righteous Counselor, the Great I AM.
I know You are merciful, full of grace.
I'm thankful You guide me by Your Law.
Your hand leads me on in my Heaven-ward race.

- I am a member of the church of Christ. I have been writing things since I was little. Some have been printed, some posted. I write to teach or encourage; to blow off steam; and for fun! I had my own motorcycle in my 40s; I was a bluegrass music DJ for about 13 years; I've performed some. I am a member of the NRA. In 2003 (age 59), I became high partial legally blind; in 2005, I had to get hearing aids! Franklin Field said: "Poor eyes limit your sight; poor vision limits your deeds". YARN
YARN
Goat hair, sheep "hair", llamas, yak!
Brown and grey and white and black!
Bamboo, cotton, flax, and hemp.
Polyester, acrylic ... remember Gimp?
Silk or possum, dog or cat ...
How about Davy Crockett's hat?
'Coon skin tail maybe sewed with jute ...
Even yarn from milk! Now that's a "hoot"!
Rayon, nylon, rabbit fur ...
Alpaca, cashmere ... It's all a blur!
So grab some string
And grab a hook! Or
Grab your sticks
And a pattern book!
Or just make it up
As you go along!
Easy or "froggy"!

(Cashmere is made from goats; mohair is from angora goats, angora yarn is from angora rabbits ... Crochet is done with one hook; knitting is done with 2 sticks that look sort of like pencils ... crocheting can be done only by hand; knitting can be done by machine ... men used to do the knitting, making rugs, etc.; women crocheted more delicate things ... and to "frog" something you are crocheting or knitting, is to "rip it, rip it"!)

THE LIES THAT BIND
Many people say they love
The Bible, but they look
At only red gold edges,
And ne'er open The Book.
They'd rather someone tell them things ---
Good stories are inside.
They'd rather not be told about
The sins of lust and pride.
And if we choose to read God's Word,
We'll surely come to know
That what's inside those pages
Will help us live and grow.
Why be one who is lazy,
Or maybe lose our zeal?
Why tie to smiling preachers,
Whose soft soap isn't real?
Sure, much is in the Bible
About God's love and grace.
But all things have a shadow,
Some evil we must face.
The devil has his army,
And some don't realize
That many in that army
Are friends who tell us lies.
The Bible can be understood.
Yet many are spiritually blind.
They rather hear false teachers
Who tell them lies that bind.

Sweet boy
This was the 6th year I attended the Truth lectures at the Athens Bible School in north Alabama. Keegan Chaffin is 9 years old, and has Down Syndrome ... yet a couple of years ago, he noticed that I used a walker (old age arthritis!) and always kind of "ran interference" for me when I tried to go to the door. He also tried to hold the big heavy door open for me, even though the door weighed more than him! His dad is preacher Jonathan Chaffin, and Jonathan's dad was also a preacher. Keegan is the youngest of 5. He plans to also be a preacher. His mother Lisa posted a picture of Keegan when he was about 4, standing in the waiting room of a dentist office, with his Bible, preaching! I always call him "brother Keegan" and shake his hand, and thank him.LIFE is UNCERTAIN
I need to downsize. You're doing the same.
Memories are good, but best is a good name.
Far above rubies is a life that's well lived.
Loving and serving -- I'm sure you're fulfilled.
I would send you flowers but they'd wilt and fade.
And definitely no "yarnings" -- no tchotchkes I've made.
Life is uncertain so I need to say
I love you. God bless you.
